Epididymal Cyst

An epididymal cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops in the epididymis, a coiled tube located behind the testicle that stores and transports sperm. It is a benign (non-cancerous) condition and is quite common in adult men.

Types

1. Simple Epididymal Cyst

* Contains clear fluid.

* Usually small and harmless.

2. Spermatocele

* A special type of epididymal cyst that contains sperm and milky fluid.

* Usually arises from the head of the epididymis.

Causes

The exact cause is often unknown, but possible reasons include:

* Blockage of small ducts in the epididymis

* Previous infection or inflammation

* Trauma to the scrotum

* Age-related changes

Most cases occur without any identifiable cause.
